To honor and preserve the cultural and environmental heritage of Hawai‘i through experiential education rooted in ʻāina (land) and kai (ocean), empowering local communities and fostering respect for Native Hawaiian traditions.
A Hawai‘i where communities thrive through deep connections to their cultural roots and natural environment — where future generations embrace kuleana (responsibility) to care for the land, ocean, and each other.
Rooted in Culture. Guided by Āina. United by Kuleana.
The organization promotes cultural preservation,
environmental stewardship, and community
empowerment through experiential learning rooted in
Hawai‘i’s land and ocean traditions.
We provide locally guided tours, hands-on activities, and educational
programs that foster respect for Native Hawaiian culture, protect fragile
ecosystems, and support local vendors and families. Our programs aim to
cultivate meaningful relationships with Hawai‘i’s culture, environment, and
community through shared kuleana (a deep sense of responsibility and
stewardship) to ʻāina (land) and kai (ocean).
Our community voices reflect the impact of our mission. Through shared experiences, our supporters, partners, and participants highlight how Hui ʻĀina a i Kai continues to nurture knowledge, inspire action, and create meaningful change across generations.
Rooted in Kuleana, Growing with Āina and Kai — Strengthening Hawai‘i Through Culture, Community, and Care.
With every program, tour, and educational initiative, we strive
to protect fragile ecosystems, preserve Native Hawaiian
traditions, and inspire stewardship for generations to come.
