Preserving Hawai‘i’s Coastal Heritage Through Culture and Community

At Hui Āina a i Kai, we are dedicated to preserving Hawai‘i’s coastal heritage through cultural education, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment. By blending traditional knowledge with hands-on experiences, we inspire respect for Native Hawaiian values while protecting the land and ocean that sustain us. Through guided programs, local partnerships, and a shared kuleana to care for ʻāina and kai, we strive to nurture deeper connections between people, culture, and place.

About Us

Caring for Land, Sea, and Heritage

Hui ʻĀina a i Kai is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to charitable and educational initiatives that celebrate and preserve Hawai‘i’s rich coastal heritage. Our mission is to promote cultural preservation, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment through hands-on, experiential learning rooted in Hawai‘i’s land and ocean traditions.

We offer locally guided tours, interactive activities, and educational programs designed to inspire respect for Native Hawaiian culture, protect fragile ecosystems, and support local families and vendors. Each program is crafted to cultivate meaningful connections with Hawai‘i’s culture, environment, and communities, emphasizing shared kuleana—a deep sense of responsibility and stewardship—toward the ʻāina (land) and kai (ocean).

Through these experiences, Hui ʻĀina a i Kai empowers participants to engage with the natural and cultural heritage of Hawai‘i in ways that are both educational and transformative, helping to preserve these treasures for generations to come.
